Kolhapur: The increase in cases of dengue fever along with the increase in their vaccination included in the age group of 18 to 44 years has caused platelet deficiency in a blood bank based in Kolhapur.
The government has now appealed to young people to appear blood donors before vaccinated after getting one of the Jabs, beneficiaries cannot donate blood for two weeks.
The authorities also claim that erratic weather conditions have caused an increase in viral diseases, especially dengue fever.
Prakash Ghunghurkar, President of the Blood Bank Association of Kolhapur, “Every day a large number of questions are placed with a blood bank by relatives of patients and also hospitals for platelets.
Before vaccination for the age group 18 to 44 years began, we have appealed to the youth to appear inside Large quantities, which they do not do.
The platelet extracted from blood has a shelf life of only 5 days and therefore it is necessary for the bank to replenish the stock.
“Blood banks have now appealed to the authorities to step early and conduct camps blood donors.
Thrombocytes are extracted directly from donor bodies with high-end technology technology and also with centrifugation of blood donated by cheaper donors.
Relatives also demand donor platelets with the same blood group as patients regardless of the fact that blood groups are not a problem for platelet therapy.
Platelet therapy is effective in the early days of dengue fever infection and hence testing after the initial signs is a quick recovery key.
Amol Mane, KMC medical officer, said, “We have started the journey to destroy the breeding land of fever that spread mosquitoes.
We have started a door-to-door survey to find the suspect Dengue.
They are being tested for early detection.
We have intensified fogging in the area Where cases are reported in large quantities.
