Kolkata: The Department of Detective Lalbazar has broken the gang of seven members who absorbed Rs 45 Lakh from one public sector bank customers in Cit Road.
Three gang members were arrested on Monday while four others had landed in the previous police net.
The police have recovered Rs 6.5 lakh so far.
One of the accused, arrested on Monday, is an outsourcing employee employee, which has helped the rest in fraud.
This was for the fourth time this year that a bank employee was arrested for fraud.
According to the police, the defendant has received access to official bank employees such as IDs and passwords and changed the customer’s registered telephone numbers and other details to spend money from both accounts.
They get details of 10 other customers in the branch and plan to cheat them.
The anti-bank fraud section of the detective department has received complaints from the bank about illegal money transfers from customer’s accounts on November 11.
“Allegations are aware that the victim will get an SMS or email for the transaction.
So, they use various modes to steal money,” said an officer.
The three were accused produced in court on Tuesday while the rest had been sent in police custody.
“Arrests can be made in connection with this fraud,” said a deputy police commissioner.
