Kolkata: Bangur City Ave-Lake is still a concern

Kolkata: a group of solid housing complexes and multi-floor buildings in this neighborhood, along with a large number of department stores, food connections and stationery shops that keep open late at night – attract a large number of outsiders – has led to the stretch of Lake Town and Bear Avenue remaining micro detention zones for more than two weeks.
While the police claimed to have identified the problem and has become a representative of uniformed men, Dum Dum Municipality Selatan has introduced a limitation of three days (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) in the area.
“The regional demography is in such a way that there is always a severe population of outsiders, as well as locals, in the market and shops.
We have struggled to manage crowding on the market along the pandemic, but this time, we somehow controlled it to a certain extent by closing Toko a week.
Hopefully, in February, this environment will come out of the micro-containment zone list, “said Pachu Roy, former Chairman of the Municipality of Dum Dum Selatan.
Since January 3, a number of high increases and buildings in Lake Town and Bangur Avenue still have a micro detention zone.
Last week, the number of micro detention zones rose to 13.
According to the updated list on Wednesday, the number has dropped to seven – two in Avenue, one in the Lake Town B block and four high complexes in Lake Town, including the VIP Tower, Lake Plaza , Aradhan and Alcove Gloria apartments.
Homemaker Ruma Chakraborty, a local, said, “Even on market days and shops asked to be closed, there are several shops that operate quietly, which attracts a crowd that is even bigger in small areas.” Toi took a tour in this neighborhood a few days for a week and found a number of stores operating on Tuesday, breaking the norms introduced by the Civic body.
Some residents also found moving without masks and did not maintain physical distances.
“We try our best to load infection in the environment and have succeeded up to a certain extent.
But if people come from outside to shop or work, we cannot ask them to return,” said the residents of Lake Town and the Minister of Fire Minister SUJIT BOSE , which just came out of isolation this week.
