Kolkata: Restaurants throughout Kolkata tend to be closed at 10:45 a.m.
from Monday to allow customers and employees to leave before night limitation starting from 11 nights.
Many make arrangements for employees to stay back for the night and will provide ID cards and authorization letters to those who have to travel again after work.

All sectors that will operate with an increase in time must keep the Covid protocol in mind so far, the restaurant must be closed at 10:30 a.m.
The association of hotels and restaurants in East India (Hraei) will issue a letter on Monday to members who ask them to stick to the close at 10:45: 00.
“There has been no clarity about whether restaurant and customer employees will be allowed to travel during the night limitation.
We will seek clarification about this from the government if it does not come in a few days.
Meanwhile, we will ask all our member restaurants to be closed at 10:45 PM and let Employees remain back if they have to travel far, “said President Hraei Sudesh Poddar.
Some, like Oudh 1590 and Chapter 2, have set a cut-off of 10.15pm for the last order.
“We hope customers go 10:45, who will give them enough time to be on transportation to reach the house.
All will not be able to reach the house at 11pm, so we hope that hours of night limitation will be pushed back,” said Shiladitya owner Chaudhury.
In Chile’s, which has an outlet in several malls, the last order will also be taken by 10.15 pm too.
“We will ensure that our customers complete their food at 10:45.
Maybe not enough for all, unless they arrange their own transportation and live close enough.
It would be better if the night limitation starts at 11:30,” said the owner Hrishi Bajoria.
He said the last order would be taken even before at Royal China, a fancy restaurant he had.
“The customer must enter 8.45pm and the last order must be taken at 10pm.
Others, we will not be able to end on time,” said Bajoria.
Park Street Restaurant also decided to stick to the time limit at 10:45 pm.
“Our customers now have a winding habit at 10:15 a.m.
So, we will have half an additional hour,” said Pratap Daryanani, Oasis owner.
Poddar, which has Songhai, Mantan and MS Bar & Lounge, has allowed 29 employees to stay back in one of the restaurants.
“The rest will bring our ID card and we will urge others to do the same thing so that part of the employee can return home even while restrictions are there,” said Poddar.
