Kolkata: The day after 37 people rounded out of the park to party through the deadline of restrictions, pubs and bars in Kolkata were stopped serving alcohol after 19:30 on Monday and close the place at 8pm, as stipulated by the government.
Many owners also put up notifications outside their bar, asking guests to empty the location at 8pm.
The government allows bars and restaurants to remain open until 8pm from July 1, provided they follow all Covid safety guidelines.
There are accusations that some sticks remain open beyond 9:00, breaking covid restrictions.
But after the attack at Park Street, most of the places were found to comply with the rules on Monday.
The authorities at Broadway Hotel in Ganesh Chandra Avenue claimed they were always sticking to the government’s deadline and stopped receiving drink orders after 19:30.
“We started asking customers to finish their food and drinks before 8pm because we had to close at the time.
We also stopped receiving orders at 7:30 p.m.
so guests can finish the food and drinks and leave before 8pm,” said Sandeep Sehgal, the owner of Broadway Hotel.
The establishment has also made notice outside, asking customers to empty the premise with 8pm.
In Ar Han Thai too, the staff reportedly took the last sequence at around 7:30 a.m.
“We told our customers to close at 8pm, the government’s deadline.
So far, we have not faced problems that convince customers,” said Manager Sanjay Singh.
However, many bars, allegedly closed the main entrance at 8pm but continued to serve outside the deadline.
