Kolkata: Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Ward 40 authorities on Monday conducted a free RT-PCR test for more than 50 residents of Laboni Housing in Salt Lake where the micro detention zone was set.
Bangsal Coordinator Sinha Roy, who is also a member of the BMC Administrator Board, said the sample was collected from 56 residents living near the Micro Detention Zone.
“The test is done to check if there are people from those who are influenced by Covid and do not show symptoms,” said Roy.
Citizenship officials said if anyone found positive Covid, he would be able to be isolated, minimizing the possibility of infecting others.
Roy added that if there were housing residents who have not been vaccinated, the authorities would arrange them to be the earliest inoculated.
The micro detention zone was established on track in Blok D on Saturday night after four people from one of the buildings that stand alone was diagnosed with Covid.
The police have formed barricades and residents who fall in the micro detention zone to keep in touch with police and civil authorities for their requirements.
The civic body also drives sanitization in the region.
“Civil authority conducts a Covid test for us on Monday and has taken all the necessary steps.
I have not got my results.
I have been affected by Covid earlier this year,” said Avijit Chakraborty, residential residents.
“Covid tests are carried out by the Environment Committee and we have taken all the necessary steps, including sanititiation, in housing plantations.
The Covid Help desk has also been prepared for residents,” said Housing Secretary Housing Laboni Sumit Sarkar.
At present, there are three micro detention zones in Salt Lake – one in the Housing area of ​​Laboni and two in the BF block.
There are eight other micro detention zones that have been established in other areas within the BMC area, including in Ktertopur, Raghunathpur, Jyanga Hearara and Jhawtola.
Civil authorities say that although the amount of Covid has diminished in the city, they continue with sanititation and drive consciousness, asking people to continue to follow the Covid security protocol
