Kolkata: Train Safety Commissioner (CRS) on Wednesday gave a nod to launch girders on the railroad tracks for the New Tallah Bridge.
CRS, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, clears new train projects throughout the country.
New Tallah Bridge is actually a wooden road (Rob) under the Ambit Railway east.
The 240m part of the 750m bridge will stand on the Train Tallah track operated by ER.
“CRS sanctions for reset construction work Tallah Overbridge has been accepted today.
Thus, the last milestone, which involves ER for replacing Tallah Rob, has been achieved at the very short period,” said an ER spokesman on Wednesday.
The bridge was 59 years old, an important relationship between Kolkata and North Fringes, was pulled down in April last year because it was an outdated repair.
In May, L & T began construction work for the Four-Lane Bowstring bridge.
PWD State pursues the April 2022 time limit to complete the 350-Crore RS Bridge Reconstruction Project.
PWD officials say the deadline can be fulfilled only after CRS clears the launch of the span over the railroad tracks.
Spokesman Er said: “Tallah Bridge is an important deprivation that connects Kolkata and suburbs.
The state government executes reconstruction of one entity.
ER facilitates this important construction work by obtaining permissions needed from CRS and involved in coordinating and accelerating the bridge work because it was built Above the railway line.
“Over the past few weeks, Er agreed to all images in connection with the launch scheme of Rob SuperStructure and Division, then create a formal application for CRS.
“CRS raised several problems and queries, which was answered on Monday.
As a result of such a quick action, CRS sanctions came within 48 hours,” said a spokesman.
