Kolkata: The Civic body has decided to close the Covaxin vaccination center for the first dose receiver from Monday.
However, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will continue to drive inoculation in Covaxin centers for the second dose recipient, the KMC health department source said.
According to a KMC official, the health department made a decision after a sharp decline in the number of first-dose recipients of Covaxin.
Currently KMC runs 37 Covaxin vaccination centers throughout the city.
“We have decided to maintain the first dose vaccination suspended in our covaxin centers from Monday for an unlimited period,” said KMC health department official.
Acute deficiency Covaxin has forced the Ministry of Health to close the covaxin center in July.
The drive continues after the KMC receives the supply from the center.
“This time we don’t have a scarcity of vaccines, but we need to focus on the second dose recipient,” said an official.
