Kolkata: Many Colleges Kolkata will have their own formula to enter UG courses based on where they will evaluate candidates before giving entry in the subject they are apply for in an effort to provide a fair opportunity to students who have canceled the class XII examination.
This will differ from the minimum criteria needed to submit the subject and will be mentioned in the reception portal.
Many colleges can take into account signs of the class X exam, the final examination of class XI and class XII examination to calculate if students make wounds.
“We have held meetings with the acceptance committee and head of all departments that will submit plans in the first week of July.
This will help us understand if applicants have talents in the subject they are apply for,” said Siuli Sarkar, headmaster Lady Brabourne College.
Many colleges, including Lady Brabourne, will hold an acceptance test in certain subjects, but the High Education Board stopped them in 2019.
Universities now only depend on class XII Marksheets to compile a list of achievements.
“The council’s examination did not last this year while the final examination of class XI was cut off or did not occur completely last year.
So the marker sheet will not reflect the performance of a student in a fair way.
This is why we need a separate formula to assess applicants,” said the principal from North Kolkata.
Many colleges such as the Scottish Church, Basanti Devi College, Goenka College of Commerce and business administration, Rani Birla Girls’ College and Asutosh College have scheduled their reception committee meetings in July to discuss the issue.
“We hold a meeting next month where this will be discussed,” said Supratim Das, Deputy Principal of Scottish College.
Many universities may not deviate too much from the processes followed in recent years.
“We have a meeting scheduled for next month but we may not make too many changes from the existing method,” said Indrila Guha, Principal Basanti Devi College.
The University of St Xavier will hold an online reception test while JD Birla will have an online interview with candidates for certain subjects.
The University Presidency is conducting an entrance test for UG courses through the Westbengal entry examination.
