Kolkata: Kolkata police decided to start the department process against a policeman and civil volunteer posted in the Kasba police component because he refused to enter the morning pedestrian and his friend, who wanted to file a complaint, because he was wearing shorts.
The initial investigation by the ACP division found that they were “guilty of taking actions that showed the police in a bad light” by rejecting the complainant on the grounds that they were “packed inappropriate”.
Flanked by his friend, Avishek de Biswas, a resident of Taman Deshapriya, Barnik Dutta, a resident of a picnic park has been going to the police station on July 17 at the shorts to report theft at his family’s temple.
Police personnel ask them to return with trousers if they want to file a complaint.
Duo did it so but one of them brought Kolkata’s police Twitter handle and raised this problem.
Driven by a reaction to social media, the police began an investigation into the incident.
“The department process has begun against two police personnel,” said DC (SSD) Rashid Munir Khan.
Although reports claimed that the police had been fined and civil volunteers of the bench for several days until further investigation, senior officers refused to ensure their authenticity.
Both Kasba police personnel were also asked to report to the DCP office in this matter.
The complainant expressed satisfaction for the actions of the police but raised a question that was not taken action against officers in Lalbazar’s social media cells to tweet “unpleasant replies”.
“ACP and DCP from the area speak to us.
We have been informed about the department’s investigation.
Even though we were told that social media cell officers had been warned, we did not know if there were actions taken,” said Dutta.
“The legal procedure will be followed in this case,” said an officer.
Senior officers in Lalbazar clarified again that there was no dressing code for the complainant.
“We are an emergency service.
We don’t have such rules,” said CP together.
