Kolkata: Vidyasagar Setu can have a Fastag facility installed at the Toll Plaza in April, allowing vehicles to enlarge the gate without stopping to pay.
HRBC, which maintains the bridge and toll road, is holding talks with the Fastag Bank facility that operates for installation.
Fastag is a device that employs RFID technology to make toll payments directly when the vehicle is moving.
Vehicle owners need to have adequate money on your account so that tags are attached to the vehicle windshield can be used to make payments instead of paying physically in number.
Direct collection of tolls through RFID tags, which are now used in NH Toll Plazas, helps reduce congestion near the toll gate.
HRBC has been looking for an expression of interest from the Bank’s operational fastag on February 10, an official said.
Because most of the plying cars along the NHS have RFID tags, it won’t be a difficult task and others will also be encouraged to have it because it is an automatic payment gateway.
But there will be one gate where the vehicle without RFID tag will be permitted, said an official.
As a head to Nabanna from Kolkata or entering the city through Vidyasagar Setu, there are often queues at The Toll Plaza.
Chairman of the Minister of Mamata Banerjee recently asked state officials to try and adopt steps to accelerate the speed of the toll collection.
According to HRBC officials, because Shalimar Station gets attention with remote trains, the installation of the Fastag gate has become necessary.
“With the return of normal economic activities, there will be an increase in traffic volume.
So we hope to have facilities immediately,” he said.
