Kolkata: Fitness Coach, Teenager die of electrocution

KOLKATA: Two young men died in 2 freak electrocution events in the southern areas of the city as Thursday.
A 36-year-old gym coach, that was earning his living as a driver through the ordeal, died after being electrocuted while he was coming home after work along with his bicycle around Thursday night.
Authorities stated Manik Barui perished in a freak accident when a live wire fell on him snapped out of a roadside electrical pole.
Electricity is provided in the region from WBSEDCL.
The incident happened on 22 Bigha Road at Nabapally.
“Barui was coming to his house in Joka’s Gopalnagar out of Kultoli after the live cable fell on him about 10.30pm.
We came to learn of this injury nearly half an hour following the incident.
We took him into a hospital after disconnecting energy source,” an officer said.
Barui’s sister and mother had died in an automobile accident three decades back.
This collision, also, had happened a day following Jamai Shasthi.
He’s got a six-year-old child in the home.
In another episode, an 18-year-old expired after a live cable and a cable wire got entangled and dropped into a waterlogged elongate of Patuli at which he had been hoping to catch a fish.
The episode was reported out of N-block of all Baishnabghata Patuli township close to the fire station around 4.15 pm Friday.
Sujoy Mondala resident of Balmiki Abasan, was angling once the live cable dropped in water.
“We observed that the childhood wriggling from the pain.
We soon realized that he was electrocuted if he noticed loose wires dangling .
He died at the place,” explained Sourav Ghosh, a neighborhood resident and also a witness.
According to a source, Mondal’s spouse is pregnant.
CESC switched off electricity in the region and removed the body into Baghajatin Hospital.
CESC official later explained the cable that had snapped and put in the water has been a ground wire which didn’t carry current.
“The 3 stage wire that transmit power were undamaged as was that the neutral wire.
We’re exploring exactly what happened,” the officer said.
“We discovered loose wires in the place and are exploring it,” explained DC (SSD) Rashid Munir Khan.
Firhad Hakim, chairperson of both KMC board of administrators, also said the events were unlucky.
Hakim said he’s asked DG electric to stunt the Patuli event.
“I’ve spoken to CESC and asked them to quit stressing and other illegal methods of harnessing power,” he explained.
