Kolkata: Sleuth at the East Command Headquarters and Kolkata police investigated work rackets that developed in the city for nine years and suspected the current double involvement and former troop and paramilitary officials who had trained and supported fraudsters.
In the past week, officials have arrested five men and dig several hiding places in the city.
Sleuth said the fraudsters gave a fake appointment letter to collect a large number of victims and had bought property worth several crores in Bihar and Kolkata.
Police have also found a large number of fake army documents, stamp bearings and other papers that have similarities with original documents.
“This is a big gang and we are sure there are some of the former military officials and now who helps fraudsters to train army etiquette, details about the settings and documents they use to falsify the appointment letters,” said an official.
Police said further arrest of possibilities and raids would be carried out at Bihar.
The gang will never be arrested if it is not for a man from Haryana – whose father served in the armed forces – who came to Kolkata after being cheated.
