Kolkata: Police on Tuesday arrested eight people after a fight between Trinamool and BJP supporters around the former Head of BJP Dilip Ghosh near the Jadubabu Bazar on the last day of the campaign for Bhowaniipore.
The arrest was made at Suo Moto FIR submitted by police Bhowanipore for the assembly who violated the law, riots with arms and weapons, voluntarily cause criminal injuries and intimidation.
Eight then given a guarantee.
However, the police did not reveal the captured political identity.
“We have caught eight people.
The problem is under the probe, and we don’t want to divulge other details at this stage,” said a senior officer.
The arrest was made after studying video recording and CCTV.
Previously, in their report to EC, the police stated that BJP did not permit for a door-to-door campaign.
The fact that Ghosh’s security has issued a gun also mentioned in the report.
Baiswaar Chattopadhyay, the election agent of Trinamool head and Bypoll candidate Mamata Banerjee, claimed BJP to increase this problem because they did not get support on the ground.

Bengal President Bengal Sukanta Majumdar expressed his concern about this issue at a meeting with the President of the Party J P Nadda.
Bangal spokesman BJP Shamik Bhattacharya said the way Ghosh and other BJP workers were attacked – and the police moved from slapping parts planted against the defendant the following day – raising questions about the legal situation and order in the state.
