Kolkata: The world’s largest technical organization in the world for technological progress presented the prestigious IEEE main milestone to Cesc on Saturday.
The coveted bronze plaque with a weight of 8.5kg was sent from the US for the installation at CESC House recognizing Cesc from “marking an electric era in Indian continental children”.
This is the first electricity supply company in South Asia to turn on thermal plants on April 17, 1899, at Calcutta.
This is the third milestone plaque of this city after one at the University Presidency for the Pioneer Work of Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose and the others in the Indian Association for Science Cultivation for Sir CV Raman experiments.
“Milestone programs respect significant technical achievements in electrical, electronic & computer techniques and related sciences and recognize great moments throughout the long history of our world technical innovation and they are symbols around the world how electrical techniques and computing have helped build the modern world and Bringing people closer together, “explained President IEEE and CEO Kathy S.
Plaque was received by the Managing Director of Cesc Rabi Chowdhury (Generation) and Debasish Banerjee (Distribution) from Sushmita Mitra, Chair of IEEE, Kolkata.
“Milestone IEEE is the most coveted award for every electricity company in the world, and this award will encourage us to continue further technological innovation that benefits humanity,” Chowdhury said.
“Cesc growth since its distribution services began in 1899 it was steady and enchanting.
At present, Cesc distributes strength to the licensed area of 567sq km.
We are honored that the world’s most famous technical organization has received CESC as a milestone in the history of electrical engineering,” added Banerjee .
Electrical & Electronics Institute (IEEE) is the largest technical organization in the world, consisting of 4,00,000 members in 160 countries dedicated to advancing innovation and excellence in all electrical, electronic, computational fields and related technology fields.
Among the scientists associated with the organization were Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell.
