This area includes Kakdwip, Sagar, Diamond Harbor under the Gosaba Block of Canning sub-division in 24 parganas and Daspur-2 Block, Ghatal in West Midnapore.
They have also started the project to raise awareness among fishermen to stay out during bad weather conditions.
“On the one hand, people fight with a pandemic and on the other hand, our extensive stretch of country has been hit by a typhoon for two consecutive years.
That’s why we decided to behave with a typhoon-affected and provide relief materials and other assistance,” said the head of the Lake Kalibari medical team, Utho Basu, an endocrine attached to the Apollo Hospital.
Last Tuesday, a team led by Basu went to Dwariknagar in the Namkhana block to distribute material assistance to those affected by Typhoon Yaas.
Their next stop will be the Sunderbans river area.
“People are very badly affected this time.
Even though the direct impact is similar to any cyclone that has reached this area before, the effects of the old life,” said Basu.
