Kolkata: The West Bengal Clinical Formation Commission (WBCERC) has asked the Flemming Hospital to pay Rs 5 lakh to the deceased family whose family has filed a complaint against the hospital.
The patient then died in another hospital.
In April this year, Tangra residents were first taken to GD Hospital for various health problems where he was given primary care.
He was found covid-positive.
Saying that there was no bed, the family took him to the Flemming Hospital.
The family accused him of developing thrombosis in the hand where the doctor had made an intravenous channel.
They also complained that he had to shift to Amri because he was not treated properly.
When he shifted, his hand had developed a gangrene.
Patients die later.
“We have notified Fleming Hospital to pay compensation Rs 5 lakh in 10 days,” said Chairman of the Ashim Kumar Banerjee Health Commission.
The health panel also throws seven more cases on Friday.
Some other hospitals are asked to restore part of the maintenance costs or offer discounts to the complainant.
