Kolkata: Kasing rises, the Sathi Swasthya unit might be squeezed

Kolkata: The number of covid patients has crawled throughout private hospitals in Kolkata for the past 8-10 days, which leads to concerns about the initial possibility of the third wave which is believed to be due in September-October.
It also leads to extortion of the Sathi Swasthya unit in several hospitals.
At least two hospitals have seen reception of their daily Covid up from one or two to about six days a week with some who need ICU care.
The section of experts feel this can be a slow and silent start of the third wave that can see a gradual increase in the number of patients over the following month.
Belle Vue Clinic has seen a leap of only two patients last week until 25 on Saturday.
“We have 33 covid beds and will add more after the number of patients touching 30.
If the number continues to increase, then the reception of Swasthya Sathi and non-Covid must be reduced,” CEO P Tondaon said.
Amri Hospitals now has 22 covid patients in three units.
Eight was treated directly to the ICU.
Amri has around 150 patients treated under the Swasthya Sathi scheme and their number must be trimmed as soon as the reception covid rises, said CEO Amri Rupak Barua.
“We have been forced to reduce the reception of Swasthya Sathi during the second wave.
If a similar burst occurs, we will be forced to ax swasthya Sathi anchored again,” Barua said.
The number of covid patients in Amri has doubled in a week and this is the fastest growth since the second wave recede.
“Until recently, we will have days without new reception, but for the past week, we have 1-2 every day,” he said.
Amri has 50 beds provided for Covid patients in three units that may have to be improved in the next two weeks, feeling barua.
Of the 40 beds for covid patients, 26 are now taken at Peerless Hospital.
Six received on Friday.
“We have seen a real Spurt in the last 10 days.
At the end of July, it fell to only five, after that there was a slow increase,” said CEO Sudipta Mitra.
Ten was treated at the Peerless.
Mitra added that the Swasthya Swasthya Swasthya Swasthya unit Swasthya would not be touched immediately.
“If the number passes 100, then we may have to squeeze it,” he said.
The RN Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS) has not seen an increase over the past week.
“Covid patients claim to range from 15-17 anytime.
These figures have been consistent for the past 3-4 weeks,” said Zonal RTIICS R Venkatesh.
RTIICs have a 15th residential at the 45-bed covid Ward.
“The non-covid area has been intended as a 65 bed ward for Swasthya Sathi patients.
So there is a possibility of an exchange as far as the covid bed increase depends on the situation,” he said.
Internal Medicine Consultant Belle Vue Rahul Jain said he had four patients received underneath now.
“This is the highest in more than a month.
But the good news is three of them being sick,” he said.
There will be a slow and gradual Spurt in reception Covid now, said Professor IPGMER Diplipra Sarkar.
“We enter the third wave and the number will rise.
But because of vaccination, this disease will now be mild to moderate,” said Sarkar.
There was a burst at the end of July but now it has been stable, said the Woodlands hospital director Rupali Basu.
The hospital now has seven-eight patients.
Others, like Medica and Charnock, haven’t seen Spurt.
“We have 15 patients now and the increase in the amount has been ignored so far,” said Medica Chairson Alok Roy.
