KOLKATA: A man who reported driving a state vehicle parked on the street Maa Garia-bound flyover and jumped off the bridge at 20:30 on Sunday.
He was declared brought dead at the Hospital of Calcutta National Medical College.
ID was found on him show his name Jhantu Das and he was a resident of Raja Manindra Road.
According to police, Das parked between pillars 16 and 17 and jumps, falls close to Pragati Maidan police station.
This is the fourth incident in Maa flyover since 2018.
The last incident was reported on September 20, when the realtor Lake Town in his 50s stopped his car on the same side and jumped to her death.
Another incident occurred in 2018 and 2019.
Police sources say they have found utility bills and identity cards from Das’s car.
Police checked all the details.
They have seized the car and contacted the car pool wing transportation department for more leads.
A senior officer said the post-mortem will be carried out and the police will talk to the families of the victims.
Late night reports indicate that the car was used for office work by senior transport officials and Das was the driver.
This, however, can not be verified.
Police said Garia-bound road is the highest stretch of the flyover Maa.
