Kolkata: Many more colleges and universities continued the offline class on Monday after the government reopened the campus last week.
The Institute was reopened on February 3, the first day of resumption after the third wave induces closure more than a month, called more batches for physical classes on campus and so on.
Universities and universities have published covid safety guidelines and urges students to resolve their vaccination as soon as possible.
Authorities also tried to reopen the hostel and distribute space for applicants so that the outstation students can also move and start attending in-class classes.
St Xavier’s University has started offline classes for undergraduate students in semester 2, 4 and 6 for now.
For postgraduate courses, students of the 2nd and 4 semesters will attend the physical class on campus.
“This arrangement will continue until February 26 after which more batches may be called,” said a university official.
“We have also shared detailed Covid security guidelines that must be followed by everyone on campus.” Offline classes have begun for several batches at Jadavpur University too.
The university has allowed the head of each department to decide when and how they want to call students to campus.
“Some batches of different courses have started offline classes from Monday.
In the next two weeks, many more batches will come to campus too,” said a university official.
Students from all states and countries come to Jadavpur University to learn which is why the University Authority has reopened their hostels.
“We need to make sure they have a place to live because most of them depend on the university hostel.
All hostels have been reopened from today and so on,” another official said.
At Astutosh College, too, offline classes for 4th semester students and 6 start from on Monday.
“Class for other semesters will soon be started and routine will be distributed with students.
But all teaching staff and non-teaching must attend college every day and sign a register,” said a college official.
Attendance in most colleges remains low on Mondays and some students are still attending online classes.
“The numbers have increased on Monday but they are still very low.
Students have gained online class habits and need time for them to get used to new routines.
Even we don’t impose anyone.
Many outstation students also haven’t arrived yet,” said the principal from North Kolkata.
