Kolkata: The case of fresh covid in Kolkata touched three digits after almost eight weeks.
Of the 717 new cases throughout the state on Thursday, 118 came from the city – a surge of 29 from Wednesday.
The last time Kolkata had new cases in three digits on July 4, with 111 cases and 3 deaths.
However, on Thursday, the city only recorded one death.
24 North Parganas on Thursday recorded 97 cases, only three deficiency of the century.
On Wednesday the district reported 89 new cases.
Kolkata currently has 1,013 active cases and 24 North parganas have 1,133, the highest for any district.
Health experts say the increase in number is a matter of worries, but adding they need to see if the trend continues to conclude something significant.
However, they emphasize the importance of following covid behavior to remain protected.
