Kolkata: Fifty new city residents have submitted themselves to help their citizens in cities, starting to register on Co-Win to help the elderly reach the vaccination center.
A few weeks ago, the authority of the development of Kolkata’s new city had asked residents if they were willing to work as a “volunteer vaccine”, helping their citizens with various aspects of vaccination.
Gautam Bhadra, 63, is one of the first to send his name.
“When the pandemic began, I was part of several groups of volunteers, helping senior citizens buy medicines and hospitalized.
It was a very satisfying experience for me.
So when the opportunity to help my fellow citizens appear, I immediately chose it,” Bhadra said.
Fifty new city residents have been selected and their names and numbers have been shared with others.
Some are comfortable only with telephone consultations but there are other people who have chosen for face-to-face consultation.
“I have received several questions from citizens of the city since I chose to volunteer vaccines.
Many families worry about the vaccination status of their homes help, guards and drivers but do not know how to do it.
The others cannot register on Co-Win.
On days My day, I have visited these residents and helped them with their questions, “said Souvik Ghosh.
