Kolkata: North, South Sinks avoid large-scale floods

Kolkata: Less than 24 hours after Stormwater began to recede from several water bags flooded, fresh shower on Wednesday flooded most of the North and Central Kolkata.
In comparison, restrictions on several bags, South Kolkata mostly avoided waterlogging misery because of the low-leathry area that lacked rainfall.
Ultangacha, Belgachhia, Maniktala, Belaghata, Burrabazar, Park Girish, Thanthania, Jalan Amherst, Jalan College, Jalan Muktarambabu, Jalan Camac and Shakespeare Sari are the worst hit by heavy rain spells that destroy most of North and Central Kolkata between 11am and 3pm , Going by Data Department of Sewerage and Drainage Corporation Kolkata Municipal, Ultangga, Belgaachhia, Maniktala, Palmer Bridge (Buyaghata) and Pumping Station Drainage Thanthania received more than 70mm.
The KMC drainage network has the capacity to drain 10mm rain in one hour.
So, the results of heavy rain are clear.
Water Storm cannot be reddened from most areas of North and Central Kolkata until Monday night.
Drivers and motorists bear the burden of the tribulation of water driving in Chittaranjan Avenue, Jalan Mahatma Gandhi or Jalan Camac, parts under the knee water.
Residents of Muktarambu Street, Thanthania, Amherst Street, Girish Park or College Street called the KMC Borough office to drain accumulated water.
Some of these regions have forced residents to stay in the room for three days.
Take the fate of Sunita Jaiswal, a resident of Amherst Street.
Jaiswal, in the early 60’s, it was necessary to make an appointment with a doctor in a nursing home located in the neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.
But, he did not dare to leave home because the entire area was still flooded since the last two days.
“I don’t know when Stormwater will recede.
I need to visit my doctor earlier,” he said.
The waterlogging scenario has become very bad in the road belt-Thanthania that the KMC drainage department must press additional service pumps.
In fact, KMC on Monday operates a large portion of heavy duty pumps at the main drainage pumping stations such as Palmer Bridge, Ultangga, Manictala, Belgaachhia and Dhapa Lock to provide residents of residents of northern facility and the center of puddle.
In South Kolkata, only the drainage pumping station recorded by Ballygunge and Jodhpur Park.
However, lowland areas such as Kidderpore, Park Reach, Klurestat, Chetla and Behala avoided inundation because these regions received rainfall of less than 30mm on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Knewerage officials and KMC drainage, all efforts were taken to fight waterlogging if fresh rain is predicted for the next few days.
