Kolkata: With the second wave of Covid-19 in Wane, the Kolkata couple who had delayed their wedding plans this summer raced to the altar before the third wave invaded their plans again.
When the number of soaking cases in the city and restrictions is imposed on the market and ease of transportation, the pair is looking for an alternative date in the coming weeks to tie the knot.
They relate to vendors and places they ordered previously to negotiate the agreement.
Pallavi Vasanandani and Samay Singhania will get married on June 4 but have to call a wedding at the last minute because cases soar.
They will now take their oath on July 7 while Samay is fully vaccinated, Pallavi has received his first shot.
Most of their guests have also received at least the first dose.
“The invitation card has come out and we have done our pre-wedding photo shoot.
It is a very difficult decision to cancel the marriage because everything is ready.
Even now, many of our close relatives from other cities and countries will not be able to attend But we have decided to continue the marriage because the situation is uncertain and health experts say the third wave might be about us anytime, “Pallavi said.
Srijita Roy and Soumik Ganguly from Lake Town are to tie the knot on May 29 but had to call the ceremony when several members of their two families were infected.
They now decided to enroll their marriage on July 11 and after it hosted family lunch.
A party has planned for December.
“Only 24 people are good from both families who will attend our wedding.
Some have just recovered from Covid while others have been vaccinated.
We both also received our first dose.
It will be a simple ceremony with a wedding registry followed by family lunch even though we will Glad to make more memories on this occasion.

Oindrila Bhattacharya had to cancel their wedding several times since March 2020 when the country experienced a lock.
They thought to tie the knot earlier this year, but the second wave hit.
“Now we try to go ahead and get married before the third wave hit.

Shashi Ahluwalia, who will get married on July 24, cannot have a fat big marriage because government guidelines allow only 50 guests but have decided not to reduce ceremonies such as Mehendi and Sangeet.
“We will have all the ceremonies but with a separate guest set so everyone can come and bless us,” he said.
