Kolkata: Attack on the elderly woman at Kali Puja Night has left the middle class tallah fear.
For locality dominated by retirees, the Tallah police station has decided to identify the elderly houses that live alone and continue to connect with them.
Padma Mandal, 73, from Chelat Babu Lane, alone at home on Thursday night when he was attacked by an unknown young man.
On Friday morning, his daughter and his son-in-law returned home to visit people and found a broken main door lock and teaching doors.
Mandal lay fainted in bed in a blood pool.
The daughter of the victim Nibedita Mandal Shau said, “We have served her dinner and went to my in-laws’ house in Ultangga for Diwali celebrations.
But we can never think such a cruel attack can happen to him.
We got the recording of the attacker CCTV that we shared with the police.” Nibedita Mother-in-law Shanta Shau said, “Over the past few years, Padma was unable to do normal housework.
This is why my son-in-law lives with him.” The police took the mandal to the government hospital but he then shifted to a private hospital.
The police suspected the attack was mainly carried out with the intention of looting.
