Kolkata: Police have begun to drive away the vendors and vendors who occupy the path around Kalakar Street from Saturday to keep traffic moving in the burabazar-posta segment.
Jalan KK Tagore and Jalan Vivekananda road traffic has been beaten because of the work of Posta’s Flyover demolition.
This, the police said, would reduce the pressure of traffic on Jalan MG.
“The idea is to reclaim the path to pedestrians.
This will allow more road space to traffic.
However, it will be a long-term plan and will take time to be fully executed,” said an officer.
Police THC has a larger plan for Panayapatti roads.
The road acts as a liaison between MG Road and Brabourne Road, and which is currently used by thousands of traders and buyers who come from North Kolkata to get out of the middle Kolkata, have been cleaned from the seizure to ensure the movement of free small vehicles.
On Saturday, the police also launched a plan to remove parking on this road to some of the adjacent to Brabourne Road.
“However, with heavy rain, we stop experiments.
From next Monday, we will use this change extensively,” Claims the Police Source.
The police source said reopening all roads are expected to reduce pressure on MG Road.
“Even though it has helped us, there are certain challenges while ratifying one-way steps.
East Bound Traffic from KK Tagore Street is now taking a mandatory turn of KK Tagore Street / Rabindra Sarani Crossing (Ganesh Taleses) Further to North Via Rabindra Sarii.
Likewise, Nimtala Ghat Street, from BK Paul to Rabindra Sarani, has been made ‘one direction’ during the implementation of work.
Without the new road option seen, we tried to maximize the use of road spaces, “explained an officer in Lalbazar.
Earlier this week, almost three months after a 250-meter strand from Strand Road North was closed for the work of Posta Flyover demolition, the Kolkata traffic police reopened all stretches last Monday.
This means vehicles, including buses and trucks routes, taking a stretch between Mirbarai Ghat Street Crossing – KK Tagore Street crossing on Jalan Strand for the first time since June this year.
Even the pedal van loaded has been allowed to return and was asked to stick to the extreme left lane.
