Kolkata police to go hi-tech for Safe Durga Puja

Kolkata: With Puja Durga become less than two months, Kolkata police are in a hurry to arm themselves with modern equipment that will help them ensure security during the festival in the city.

For this equipment, Lalbazar has floated tenders that are likely to be resolved in mid-September.
It has been decided to buy nine steam detectors explosives with explosives and improvised material detectors and costs have been pegged around Rs 2 Crore.
This can detect particles and steam in less than seven seconds in addition to military and plastic explosives.
Lalbazar has also issued a tender for seven non-linear intersection detectors (NLJD) at a cost around RS 1Crore.

Kolkata police hold 18 cellular toilets, 10 vans that change and four kitchen food.
They plan to change the 25-seats mini bus into the cellular unit.
Total Rs 4.4 Crore has been allocated for this.
“Police, especially women, face problems because of the lack of toilets that can be used in the city.
Change clothes is also difficult for them.
So, we provide them with clean facilities, which are needed at the Covid Times,” said an officer.
