Kolkata: The arrest of a 27-year-old man from Indore in Madhya Pradesh has blew the fraudsters who hacked whatsapp profiles of netizens and deceived them from the money obtained hard by greeting acquaintances and pleading money.
Cyber cells from Kolkata police have arrested the defendant – identified as Jayesh Patidar – who allegedly hacked the identity of whatsapp Kolkata residents, using the temporary IP address of Pakistan and postponed employers worth Rs 6 Lakh.
Kolkata police have warned residents, asking them to be careful with messages received even from close acquaintances.
“You must treat your WhatsApp message carefully,” said Cyber cell officers.
Police Commissioner Mitra Soumen, in his last crime meeting, has asked his officer to concentrate on eliminating this fake WhatsApp gang.
This is the second incident reported in the city in a four-month range.
“In this case, the defendant posed as the father of a child who studied at the same school and the same class as the victim’s son.
He then sued the RS 6 Lakh claiming it was an emergency back home,” claimed an officer.
Police believe Patidar might be involved with organized gangs from Bharatpur.
“This good gang has advanced technically or is a separate gang in the operation now,” said an officer from Cyber Lalbazar cells.
