Kolkata: In the middle of the ongoing Kolkata city election, a rough bomb was thrown out of the polling booth that hurt voters.
The incident occurred outside the Taki Boys School at Ward 36 from North Kolkata.
According to the Kolkata police source, one congressional worker has been detained in connection with this raw bomb blast.
The man was identified by analyzing CCTV footage.
The man belonged to the neighboring ward and was questioned by the police, said the source.
Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar called for peaceful elections.
After voting, Governor Dhankhar said, “The peaceful voice is very important for people to choose without fear.
I told the commissioner of the state selection to make the arrangements needed for the election of peace and to ensure there was no state intervention.” Polls are taking place at 4,959 polling booths in all 144 Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) in the middle of a tight security and with the Covid-19 protocol.
Starting at 7 in the morning, the voting will continue until 5 pm on Sunday.
Vote counting will take place on December 21.
