Kolkata: Some passengers, who recently flew out of the airport Kolkata, complained that the baggage check-in they had been tampered with and that the valuables were missing.
Following these allegations, Kolkata airport authority and airport authority of India has launched a joint investigation to track down those responsible for the theft.
TOI on Wednesday reported a complaint of a software engineer, who had taken flight from Kolkata.
Flyer, Chandan Prakash, said at first he did not even detect anything wrong with a trolley bag, but then found already open outer compartment of the inner lining and certain goods have been issued with a unzipped.
After this report, more flyers sent similar complaints about theft and damage to their luggage for a few months.
Aditya Bubna, a businessman from New Alipore, said a similar incident happened to him when he flew to Delhi on August 8 for a family trip to Himachal Pradesh.
“I have saved Rs 25,000 in the top pocket of my backpack.
When luggage arrives at the belt 2 in the terminal Delhi 2, the cash was stolen and the bag was torn from the inside.
I wrote several letters to the airline but did not get the money back or compensation, “Toi Bubna said.

Prakash, who marked the theft, said the carrier is contacted with a guarantee of compensation.
“Indigo customer service team promised to send a new trolley bag.
But there is no culprit found so far, I was told.
I reported this problem to not get compensation but to raise awareness,” said Prakash.
