Kolkata: The food and beverage industry in Kolkata records Footfall and Durga Puja’s income when people take revenge eat after almost two years carefully and hold back.
The heavy rush saw many restaurants forced to walk down window leaves after they ran out of food.
Restaurant owners who have been doing business for decades said they had never witnessed things like this for the rest of their lives.
“What we have witnessed since last Friday was extraordinary.
While we usually do two regular businesses during the Puja Days, restaurants have done almost 25% -30% more business than they did during the festival in 2019.
I think Each restaurant will destroy their own records and income in terms of footfall and their own income.
In a week passed, “said the Hotel & Restaurant Association of East India President Sudesh Poddar, who operated Manthan, Songhai and MS Bar & Lounge.
Despite the end for the extra business, Poddar got an early warning when last Sunday in Shashthi, the restaurant was out of stock at around 11:30 a.m.
and had to say not to customers.
Anand Puri, co-owner Heritage Restaurant Trinca’s at Park Street, has a similar experience in Navami.
“I was in the kitchen most of the pujas, managing orders’ saturation.
After almost two years in prison and restraint, people only went all the pigs,” said Puri.
Anjan Chatterjee, who has 38 restaurants in Kolkata, including Oh! Calcutta, Mainland China and Fire & Grill, said the restaurant not only sold 25% more than before, they will do at least 30% more businesses that have more tables to accommodate customers.
“What we witnessed is a meal revenge.
People who have been in the room or live a careful life of 18 months have stepped out and boasts revenge.
And it’s not just kolkata.
Our restaurant is in other parts of the country too Has recorded 25% higher business.
In London, Bengali Cuisine Restaurant Chorangi has a queue and people jostling for a table, “Telling Chatterjee.
Nitin Kothari, the owner of Momcambo, Peter Cat and Peter Hu, have anticipated big voters.
But he also admitted the number exceeded his expectations.
“I told my people to stock it well for this puja.
However, we ran out of some items towards the afternoon,” he told.
Rishi Bajoria, who operates Chili’s and Royal China, said sales were at least 20% higher than the previous highs recorded by the restaurant.
“The footsteps are higher than before such as per sale.
What’s most encouraging is that this happens even though there are so many restaurants and bars opening the shop lately.”
