Dominic Savio SJ, leader of St Xavier’s College on Tuesday flagged both meals vans into the coastal Regions of Purba Midnapore beneath Contai-I and Ramnagar-II Blocks, that will be the worst affected in Cyclone Yaas.
These food trucks will soon be travelling to different cyclone affected villages and also can serve hot snacks and food.
Every one of both vans have the capability to deliver food to over 750 individuals in daily that means1500 individuals could be fed every day.
This cooked food supply service was undertaken in cooperation and assistance of Shri Narayani Namo Namo (NGO established in Kolkata), that will last for next couple of days.
St.
Xavier’s College and St.
Xavier’s College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCCAA) can also be sending 30 quintals of berries to every one of the four cubes of Purba Midnapore District namely Contai-I,Ramnagar-II, Khejuri-II along with Deshapran.
Last year also the College together with the help of the Alumni Association managed to feed over 1000 households in the Kakdwip — Namkhanastretch of Sundarbans later Super Cyclone Amphan.
The following couple of days, SXCCAA together with the faculty are also sending food grains, legumes, milk powder, saree, dhoti, lungi, vests aside from apparel materials for kids to the cyclone affected villages of Purba Midnapore, under the advice of the president of their institution, Rev.
