Kolkata: Thousands of people appeared, although Drizzles sporadic, at the KMC vaccination clinic and the mega center on Thursday morning to get their Jab.
Some clinics based in Garar-Tollygunge and Jadavpur-Kasba belts saw the serpentine queue and several units in the Jadavpur-Kasba area had people from Frarof places, such as modrises, Joynagar and Dakshin Barasat, queuing in the dawn gap.
A large number of vaccination clinics on Thursday also recorded an increase in the number of second-dose recipients.
Going with vaccination data at the end of the day, Mega Center at BhawaniPur Education Society recorded around 550 second-dose recipients combined, where more than 200 came from three districts – Howrah, and South and North Korea.
“Most recipients come from the district and they reach the morning.
We assure all their vaccination needs will be taken care of,” said KMC Health Department official.
With high demand, one queue and time slot has placed several second dose recipients in the problem.
According to KMC medical officers who oversee the vaccination clinic in Tollygunge, of 200 doses given, around 45% are the second dose recipient.
“We did not realize that a large portion of the crowd had gathered at our clinic since morning will turn into the second dose recipient,” the official said.
According to a citizenship official, the Civic body will be in a position to allocate more vaccines to its Covishield clinic and Mega’s centers from Friday because the State Health Department on Thursday receives 13 doses of the lakh vaccine.
“If we get a portion of the consignment, we will increase the allocation of daily covishield doses to the clinic and the center of our mega,” said a citizenship official.
The official said the allocation on Thursday for each of the 144 vaccination clinics reached 200 doses, the mega centers received around 550 doses.
“We hope to increase doses by 10% if we accept new supplies from the country,” said Civic officials.
