Kolkata: The inner room of the police commissioner in the East Suburban Division was completely busty in Wednesday’s fire shot.
The room, on the first floor of the building, caught fire at around 5.30 in the morning.
According to the police, a short circuit from the electric cable in the room caused fire.
At least six policemen from the DRO office stuck about one and a half hours when the fire broke.
However, it did not spread outside the first floor.
At least five tenders of fire responded to the call and fire was brought around 7 in the morning when firefighting personnel dropped the police trapped in the building.
It was around 7.50 in the morning that the firefight department finally called their operations.
“Losses are estimated.
All space, complete with furniture, television, and other items, has been reduced to ashes.
There are several files and we ensure the specific documents are lost in the fire.
Because early, not many officers are in the office,” said an officer from the ESD division.
A forensic team then visited a place to gather evidence and ensure the right cause of the fire.
DC (ESD) Priyabrata Roy stated that the Forensic Team, Prima Facie, has pointed to a short circuit in an electric light connection as a cause of fire.
Lalbazar’s source said they had not decided where to shift the DCP office.
“We will try to operate from the current office.
If it is not possible, we can choose the temporary office at the Buyaghata police station or Phoolbagan,” said an officer.
