Kolkata: the system weakens but expects a heavy rain spell

Kolkata: When Typhoon Gulab headed to the North Andhra Pradesh Beach and Odisha between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur, threatened to hit the land around midnight on Sunday, Kolkata and South Bengal remained unaffected by it.
The city, however, is arranged to receive moderate rain until weighing between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Weatherman has honed the rain for Kolkata triggered by cyclone circulation which will appear in the northeast bay and the Middle East Bengal on Monday.
It has been predicted to increase to low pressure for the next 24 hours, but now it has changed weaker.
“System, however, has been diluted and may not intensify it into low pressure now.
It will lead to the northwest and can reach the Bengal Beach on Wednesday, causing medium to severe shower in Kolkata and Gangetic Bengal,” said the director of the regional meteorology center (RMC) GK DAS.
He said that depending on the speed of movement, the system could start affecting the South Bengal and Kolkata on Tuesday.
“We hope that moderate rain is heavy on Tuesday or Wednesday, including intense spells.
Furthermore, circulation will lose sting and die, but light monsoon rain will continue,” said the watershed.
The city accepts light rain spells on Sundays, but they are not related to the approaching cyclone, the Met Office said.
“Local lightning storm has been striking Kolkata and neighboring districts for the past few days and weeks are no exception,” said an official.
Gulab tends to have land with a wind speed of 75kmph-85kmph, fends up to 95kmph.
The Met office sounded a rainwright for Midnapore Timur and South Parginas under its impact on Monday.
However, on Tuesday, heavy rain has been expected in Kolkata and the South Bengal District because the cyclone circulation will hit the beach and approach the city.
Squey Winds reaches 30kmph-40kmph speeds have been predicted along Bengal Beach, including in East Midnapore, South Pargana, Jhargram, Hooghly and Kolkata.
Even if the circulation loses steam, kolkata may still receive 70mm-110mm rain between Tuesday and Wednesday.
