Kolkata: Local residents see grass caught in a new city once again next to the Silicon Valley plot on Tuesday morning.
New Town Forum and News (NTFN), an umbrella organization forum residents in New Town, and the ECO PARK police are told and news circulating in the WhatsApp group.
The police went to the place to extinguish the fire.
Last year, the local resistance group was formed coordinating with the authority of the development of Kolkata’s new city and the police to prevent burning of grass and biomass in open land which had caused many air pollution, which led to the death of many birds in the area.
The locals say large empty areas around the plot have seen the most frequent incidents of biomass burning.
“The coordinated approach together with NKDA, police, local NGOs and watch groups conducted last year can prevent recurrence of this disorder,” said residents.

The problem was first revealed when some red Munia birds were killed and their nest was broken after several criminals burned the grass in the plot opposite the eco park.
“The birds were killed last year due to rampant biomass burning during the winter last year.
It also causes large air pollution.
We cannot let this happen again,” said Chairman of NTFN Samaresh Das.
Last year’s resistance group was formed and drive awareness was carried out with volunteers who maintain constant watches in the group.
NKDA also provides water tankers to extinguish the fire every time such events are reported.
