Kolkata: Two 14-year-old boys drowned at the pool near their home at Alipore around 4pm on Monday.
The best friends of Raj Modak and Ramendra Chowdhury finished playing and wanted to refresh themselves in the pool at Vidyasagar Colony off DL Khan Road, police said.
The modest, a resident of Dhirendra Nath Ghosh Road, and Chowdhury, a resident of Asutosh Mukherjee Road, was declared dead at the SSKM Hospital.
“They played near the pool.
Then one of them stepped towards the bank to feed the fish, something they did regularly.
He suddenly fell into the water and cried for help.
Seeing his friend in trouble, the boy jumped in.
But he failed to drag his friend and he sank.
A woman watched them and asked for the help of the locals.
They reminded the police, who took assistance from fire engines and disaster management groups to restore the body.
