Mysuru: In his first experiment, the city center Institute for Indian (CIIL) and Koo application, a microblogging site, has collaborated to promote the use of fair language through the creation of corpus words and phrases considered offensive.
The most common problem faced by people on the social media platform is the use of mentioning languages, words and trollers, among others and with the absence of documents that categorize offending words, the problem is not checked.
Director Cil Shailendra Mohan observes that this initiative is an effort to ensure that the use of social media comes with verbal / textual cleanliness and is free of inappropriate language.
“CIIL will provide a language consultation through the corpus and strengthen the hand of the application team in realizing the purpose of interaction of responsible and sanitation social media,” he said.
Through this collaboration with CIIL, the application will develop a deep understanding of logic, grammar, and the context of the words used in the original language, especially on social media and parallies help identify terms and offensive phrases that can cause disputes and bullying online.
Under the MOU signed by CIIL and the App Manager, the Institute will conduct this exercise in 22 languages under the eighth schedule of the Constitution.
In turn, the application will share relevant data to make a corpus and provide technology support to build an interface that will host the corpus for public access.
This initiative aims to develop the use of Indian languages responsible for social media.
According to the plan, CIIL will include words and phrases that are considered offensive for 22 Indians.
KOO will provide technology support and strengthen the moderation policy of content to curb abuse and increase security on the platform.
“This exercise will be carried out in all the main languages of India including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
This collaboration is planned for two years and Corpus words not only for us,” said Co-Founder & CEO Koo Radhakrishna.
