Seoul: The South Korean Prime Minister has offered public apologies for large-scale Coronavirus outbreaks on destroyers on the anti-piracy mission from East Africa.
Prime Minister Kim Boo-Kyum said Tuesday the government was “very sorry for failing carefully treating the health of our army who devoted to the country.” The Ministry of Defense said 247 of the 301 members of the destructive crew had been infected.
This is the biggest cluster for the South Korean military since the pandemic began.
South Korea sent two military planes to return 301 seafarers.
On Tuesday, South Korea reported 1,278 new virus cases, took the total Caseload to 180,481, with 2,059 deaths from Covid-19.
It was the 14th day in a row that South Korea had confirmed more than 1,000 new cases.
