Panaji: Goa Advanced Party President Vijai Sardesai said the move of Kiran Kandolkar to join the All India Trinamool Congress was an unexpected blow to his party.
He said GFP was convinced that Kandolkar and his wife Kavita could oppose the assembly selection of 2022 from Aldona and Tivim as part of the Alliance Agreement.
“The resignation of Kiran Kandolkar from the party was surprising and it was unexpected,” Sardesai said.
Even though suddenly moved by Kandolkar to the GFP ditch, Sardesai said he understood the motive behind the exit.
“He seems to have doubts about whether he will get tickets in the possibility of alliances that we might have in the future.
I have given him respect at our party and I am sure that I will give him what he wants,” Sardesai said.
The GFP head said that changing political Allegiances was expected before elections, especially when new political parties entered the field.
“He must have given him thoughts and it is very likely that he doubts about whether he will get a ticket for his wife and himself in the possibility of alliances.
I am quite sure that candidates who cannot be rejected will not be rejected tickets in the alliance,” Sardesai said.
