Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Power K Krishnankutty said KSEB was on the mission to boost the power plant from 65MW to 100MW.Krishnankutty said the promotion of solar power units installed on the roof was part of the joint effort by KSEB and the state government to provide power to consumers affordable .
“The aim is to promote solar projects to the maximum and thus reduce dependence on the power we currently buy from outside the country,” he said.
The minister inaugurated a solar powerplant installed on a 1.5MW roof at Mohandas Engineering College in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
Under the SOURA PROJECT for renewable energy promotion, a decent solar unit to produce 29MW power is being arranged on the roof of the school, universities and government institutions throughout the state.
Of this amount, 40 solar units worth 1.5MW were assigned on Wednesday at Mohandas Engineering College.
Units arranged on campus campus by spending RS 6.75 Lakh are expected to bring 22 units of KSEB Lakh Grid Energy every year.
