Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has joined hands with the Indian Institute of Education and Research (IISER), to establish a sophisticated laboratory animal center that will provide praclinical animals and research support for the company to prepare research and development facilities in the biodiversity park and Also for state academics by increasing existing facilities, which is an intensive initiative of capital and who also needs to follow various guidelines and protocols for operations and management.
KSIDC will provide Rs 6.32 Crore to Iiser.

Mou with KSIDC will facilitate the supply of small-free pathogens for companies and companies that are being established in live science parks to conduct research, both academic and clinical, and pre-clinical tests as part of research in the bio-pharma domain.
This facility at iiser will be equipped with international standard infrastructure to breed and maintain small animals in a pathogen-free environment.
This facility will have the capacity to accommodate more than 2,500 mouse cages.
This will be given a special air handling unit for various zones to maintain sterility and pressure.
Temperatures (19-21 ° C) and moisture (40-60%) will be regulated through the control of the building management system.
This facility will be able to provide animals (including transgenic mice and are humiliated) with the best health standards for pre-clinical testing from laboratory results.
Pregistered with a committee for the purpose of control and supervision of experimental in animals will be carried out by trained personnel.
Iiser has submitted a proposal to the state government for Sanctions RS 6.32 CR to add infrastructure facilities in existing animal homes to develop it as a regional resource center for breeding, maintenance, and experiments in small animals.
