Bengaluru: The state government, which has already done more than 1.5 lakh test a day in the past two weeks, will soon change its focus on those who in the age group of 0-19 years as part of a new strategy to prevent the third.

CN Manjunath, Nodal Officer for Covid-19 testing in Karnataka, said: “The strategy in the coming days is to pay special attention to children up to 19 years.
We have suggested that at least 10% of the daily test focused on this category, And it will begin soon.
“He added that this would be achieved through randomized testing – both in the community and in schools and colleges – and priority districts such as Bengaluru and those who have a high level of peposititivity to apply this faster than other districts.
“But the strategy is for all districts to start this, and it must happen soon,” he said.
While Dr.
Manjunath did not describe further, other officials said that the focus on children was being suggested as the category was not part of the inoculation drive and mostly protected in waves of detention.

With more than 22.6 Lakh tests carried out in the first 15 days of August, the state has carried out at least 2,250 tests per million (TPM) on average every day, which is almost equivalent to the number of tests carried out overall in June.
While August testing was around 41% more than the top of the first wave – 1,589 TPM reported in November 2020 – officials said that the month could end with more tests done than in June.
As reported by the previous TOI, the overall testing in this country has been quite high, although some experts believe that it can be repaired further, given that some states and UTS such as Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Delhi, have reported higher TPM than Karnataka in recent weeks.

Manjunath said: “With around 1.5 1.5 lakh tests per day, the amount we currently do is very good because the overall positioning level except in some districts is below 1%.
But if necessary, the target will be increased to be around 1.75 lakh even 2 lakh per day.
“At the current level, Karnataka will end August with around 45.2 Lakh tests, but officials say that the state can end up with more tests than that, which will make the highest test average since the pandemic experienced early 2020
