K’Taka: 14.4L kids to get eggs in the middle of a day for 46 days

Bengaluru: Children in the seven Karnataka District will be given eggs with midday food for 46 days of this academic year.
The decision was known by the Division Division of the Ministry of Education’s Division Project.
More than 14.4 lakh grade 1-8 children of the Bidar District, Ballari, Kalaburagi, Koppal and Vijayapura where anemia is a common district and aspirational Raichur and Yadgir will get one egg for that period.
Around RS 39 Crore will be provided for this.
At the BAI meeting held on August 4, the general status of the health of children in this country was discussed, especially conditions such as Kwashiorkor, which was generally caused by lack of protein.
“The PAB suggests the state to provide additional nutritional items in aspirational districts and those where the level of malnutrition and high anemia is considered in accordance with the National Family Health Survey,” according to the minutes of the meeting.
“We will consider extending it to 220 days next year,” said V Anbukkumar, Commissioner, Public Instruction Department.
This department is also in talks with the Karnataka Milk Federation for alternatives for children who do not consume eggs.
“We have asked them to explore nutrition biscuits for children like that.
While bananas are other alternatives, there are some practical problems with it like maturity.
Also, it’s not an attractive choice for children,” Commissioner said.
The department sent a team to Tamil Nadu, who already had eggs as part of midday food, to learn how to buy, save and handle them.
DPI must wait for school to reopen to implement the idea.
“Others, we have to exercise how to distribute it with other dry rations,” he added.
At present, children get midday food as dry rations because schools are closed for primary classes and open for half a day for a higher main value.
Every time Karnataka has tried to put eggs on the middle day edge menu, he experienced rigid resistance from the right-wing group.
“This time, we haven’t seen such resistance.
This is for the district where children suffer from malnutrition.
Also, we are planning an alternative to children who don’t eat eggs,” Anbukkumar said.
It has also been decided to discuss 25.9 lakh children in the base class and 17.2 lakh in the primary year’s mid-year eating scheme for 50 days during the summer vacation on 2021-22 considering Covid-19.
