K’Taka: 30% of children attend online classes during locking

Bengaluru: A study throughout the state has revealed that during the pandemic induced locking, only 30 percent of children attend online classes, while 70 percent are involved in agriculture, related jobs, help parents at work or spend time watching TV and Play mobile games.
This study was conducted by the Observatory of Karnataka Children’s Rights (KCRO) – NGO consortiums and individuals who work for children and children’s rights – to understand the situation of children (health, immunization, education, nutrition, protection, etc.) and their families during The locking period and send recommendations to the government and other stakeholders.
This study, supported by UNICEF, Hyderabad and NGO partners, was carried out in 20 districts in Karnataka with a focus group covering 513 teenagers (12-18 years), 501 men and 510 years (19 to 56 years).
Although the survey underscores the fear expressed by experts on online study inefficiencies, it shows some positive trends regarding midday eating distribution.
According to him, 85 percent of respondents received a midday eating allotment during locking, while only 15 percent did not.
Nearly 81 percent said they had eggs and balamrutham (weaning food prepared from wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar) as part of the additional nutritional food supplied from an affadition to the house, while the rest did not.
Nearly 77 percent said even after locking was appointed, Anganwadis ensured that nutritious food reached children at home.
Eighty-three percent of households surveyed confirm that even during these phases, monthly immunization drives for children.
The deadliest wisdom forces 91 percent of households to leave their children alone at home while other members are working.
Nine percent of respondents said neighbors took care of their children.
