K’Taka: 4 held at Udupi about complaints of conversion offers

Udupi: The couple and two others were arrested by city police here on Sundays for allegedly abusing a man’s religion and trying to change it force.
Fourth – Jyothi and Prakash, and Ravi and Manohar – have been revived in court detention.
In his police complaint, the 36-year-old Anand said Ravi, his relatives, called him around 3pm on Sunday and asked him to come to Halladi Pete to discuss religion.
Anand, who lives in Brahmavar Taluk, went with his friend, Sharan.
They met at Jyothi’s house at around 5:45 a.m.
Humans accused the woman harassing her faith, asked her to convert them to meet at Jyothi’s house in Muklatike at around 5:45 a.m.
on Sundays and Ravi introduced it to others.
Anand alleged that Jyothi harassed his faith and asked him to enter Christianity, said all the problems would be resolved.
They allegedly pushed Sharan to convert too.
After Anand’s complaint, a case has been registered under various parts of the IPC, including allegations of promoting hostility, intentional actions to prevent religious feelings and say words with intentionally intention to hurt religious sentiments.
The police said they visited the house in “Tip-Off from Public” and recovered books and other documents.
The couple was accused of targeting people for repentance, said an officer, added that the investigation was on.
As news about the arrest spread, the Hindu member of Jagarana Vedike gathered outside the police station demanded fast action against the defendant.
