Bengaluru: The state government is almost jammed for a week now as the main minister of Basavaraj Bommai and the majority of his cabinet colleagues are busy campaigning for Sindgi and Bypolls Hangal, leaving their respective works for officials.
The situation will likely continue until the public campaign ends on October 28.
There were complaints about increasing files in various departments and several people who had come to Vidhana Soudha from distant places to meet the minister were forced to return.
Officers have rescheduled an important meeting due to the illness of the minister.
Many even wonder why these “insignificant” polls have become a priority for ministers for their employees.
Bengaluru Mla from the ruling party also expressed displeasure of the ministers who campaigned for several days.
“Does the need to spread so many ministers at Bypolls, when the results will not have a good bearing on the government or BJP,” he asked.
“I made me amazed to see so many ministers campaigned for two Bypolls who did not have political significance,” said a businessman from Udupi, who came to meet the Murugesh Nirani Industry Minister on Friday but in vain.
Except for several ministers such as CN Ashwath Narayan, N Munirathna and CV Nagesh, others have camped in Sindgi and Hangal for the past week.
The party has appointed a team of four ministers, each of which is led by Govind Karjol and Murugesh Nirani each responsible for Sindgi and Hangal, and they have traveled to this constituency from the first week of October.
According to BJP Office-Bearer, 20 MLA has also been deployed.
Even CM has made a hangal quail election tour for the past four days together with its predecessor BS Yediyurappa.
Bypoll has been a prestige problem for Bommai as a decrease in hangal in the district of Haveri’s house and the defeat here will have serious implications for his leadership.
“Bommai was desperate to win a hanging chair to justify the party’s decision to face the assembly poll in 2023 under his leadership,” said Nagaraj, BJP official from Hangal.
The presence of CM and the minister has also made the district administration devote all their time to them.
“On the one hand, they sent DC to the village to take administration to the doorway of people.
On the other hand, they themselves fled their basic responsibility,” Alleged K Manganghesh, Secretary of State, Indian trade union center.
Agriculture Minister BC Patil said there was no government work hampered because of their absence in Bengaluru.
“Technology helps us monitor goods from anywhere.
People who want to meet us personally may have faced some problems but they can always contact us on our cellphone,” he said.
