K’taka Administration Record 83L shot in August

Bengaluru: Karnataka, who has demanded more doses of Covid-19 vaccine from the center, has given a record of 82.6 lakh doses in 27 days this month – up to 12 nights on Friday – and hopes to close August with at least 1 Crore Jabs.
The number of doses given in August is higher than June, when the country gives 10 doses of lakh on one day – June 21 – thanks to a special drive in the middle.
On the seven days ended August 27, the state gave 26.1 doses of lakh, the number set to increase at the end of Friday.
Until now, more than 3.9 doses of crore have been given in the state.
The drive includes more than 2.9 crore people, and from this, almost 95 lakh has been fully inoculated (both doses).
While Bengaluru is a priority so far, from September, the Ministry of Health plans a more equitable dose distribution in all districts.
“Today’s opening balance (Friday) is around 26 doses of lakh, and we must be able to cross a dose of crore for the month,” said Health Commissioner Dr.
KV Trilok Chandra, added that the state had received 84 doses of lakh for August.
From the dose of 3.9 crore given, Chandra said, 52 lakh, or around 13% of shots, was given to private facilities.
More than 1.96 Crore doses have been given to men and more than 1.94 crores for women.
The government, as reported by TII before, has set a daily target of five doses of lakh a day, but has been decorated with inventory from the center.
With available doses, the state has provided an average of 3.7 lakh doses every day between August 21 and 27 (up to 12pm).
The 32-week analysis of the vaccination drive shows the overall daily average is around 1.7 lakh with around 12.2 doses of lakh given per week.
However, several weeks have seen far lower numbers while there are also several weeks that have more than double this number.
The lowest weekly coverage (1.2 lakh) is between January 23 and 29, and the highest (31.2 lakh) between 19 and 25 June – mostly due to a single day surge recorded on June 21.
“We hope to get more doses from September.
Which will help us increase daily vaccination further,” Chandra said.
“The state has covered almost 60% of the target population with the first dose and the forward strategy is for a fair coverage of all districts.”
