K’taka: almost 1/3 of Covid victims do not have comorbidity

Bengaluru: Nearly 31% of Covid-19 patients who surrendered to the virus in Karnataka did not have comorbidity, according to the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
On June 24, the state lost 34,425 patients to Covid and 10,559 did not have comorbidity such as hypertension, high blood pressure, kidney disorders or other health problems.
The majority of such cases were seen in Bengaluru where 4,299 dead did not have comorbidity.
The city saw 15,537 Covid deaths until June 24.
In the Yadgir district, 74.7% of dead patients did not have comorbidity.
The district saw 206 deaths until June 24 and only 52 people had comorbidity.
Death in patients without a commort was 65.1% of Covid’s total death in Kolar, followed by 59.7% in Chamarajanagar.
How the second wave of Penerrerensexperts said some patients may not be aware of their unreliable comorbidity in medical documents.
According to Dr.
MK Sudarshan, Chairman, the Covid Technical Advisory Committee, recording of data on comorbidity needs to be examined.
“Quality of data is better at medical college hospitals,” said Dr.
Sudarshan, added that long delays in hospitalization cause death.
“Obesity is the main risk factor in Covid-19, but has not been considered a comorbidity in official medical records,” said other experts.
According to Dr.
Anoop Amarnath, members, the critical support group of state governments for Covid treatment, data showed the reality of sad soil.
“In the second wave, there are some cases of young patients without comorbidities served with a heart attack, stroke, gastrointestinal bleeding.
This is a clear sign of coagulation abnormalities seen with Covid,” he said.
He said the contributing factors were disglylikemia (abnormalities at blood glucose levels).
“Many young patients have high sugar levels.
It is a double whammy because they need steroids, in turn, increasing sugar levels,” he said.
In some patients, infections such as Pneumocystis Carinii pneumonia, caused by Jiroveci pneumocustis fungus, looks.
“This shows the potential nature of Covid’s immunity oppression.
All of these factors must be learned further,” said Dr Amarnath.
