K’taka asks the sec to delay all polls until next year

Bengaluru: Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday decided to write to the Country Election Commission and the Head of the Main Election to delay all elections, including Taluk and Zilla Panchayat polls involving 3.5 Crore voters, until next year in the light of Covid-19.
wave.
Countries cannot buy polls now: BOMMAIHIS is the second time the cabinet decided to urge the election commission to delay the poll.
In April, it had requested a six-month suspension after the second Covid wave crashed into the country.
BBMP, which is under administrator rules almost a year ago, will not see this year’s election too.
The EC decision to do Bypolls in the Balasavi, Basavakalyan and Masti earlier this year pulled sharp criticism after the Covid-19 case was fired in these districts.
The Minister of Law and Parliament Basavaraj Bommai said the state was unable to elect on this point.
He said the cabinet agreed to hold elections with the position of President and Vice President of the Cooperative Society.
“The Cooperation Minister said this election did not involve more than 10-20 people in every society and that it would be very helpful in ensuring transparency and accountability,” he said.
